CITYWIDE CAREER DAY

High schools with predominantly low-income students in Detroit have 1,000 students per counselor versus a national average of 471 students per counselor. This reflects the need for additional resources and information students receive on applying to college and identifying an ideal career path. Minds Matter Detroit's Annual Career Day is designed to reach high-achieving students to provide career exploration and networking opportunities.

Career Day will place working professionals in the room with motivated high school students. In a panel format, students will attend three small group discussions with professionals from a variety of industries. Panelists will provide insight into their personal educational and career journeys. Students will gain career advice and expertise in an engaging and interactive format.

Students will learn from and network with professionals from the following career industries:

  • Art & Design
  • Business & Entrepreneurship
  • Education
  • Health Care & Medicine
  • Law
  • Policy & Politics
  • Technology & Engineering
